The finalists — there are 257 in total — were whittled down from a pool of well over 700 entries — the largest number ever submitted in the history of the competition. A comprehensive group of over 100 judges adjudicated.

The group of 257 finalists are vying to win top score in 11 respective categories, while also competing for a chance to walk the stage to collect one of six coveted Grand Awards, celebrating outstanding builder, renovator and partner members.

Leading the pack is the multi-time Builder of the Year award-winner Jayman Built, earning 18 finalist nominations that span a variety of categories from marketing to single and multi-family design/build, as well as community design.

And as the sole finalist in the category Multi-Family Home, Best Apartment Style $251,000 to $350,999, Jayman Built also earns the winner title for its Les Jardins Apartments — A Suite project. It is also a shoe-in for winner of Best Apartment Style $451,000 and Over as the sole finalist for two projects at The Streams of Lake Mahogany — Reflection Brook #102, and Reflection Springs #301.

Three-time Builder of the Year award-winner Logel Homes came in a close second with 12 nominations for multi-family home designs in five categories, as well as for sales and marketing categories, while Homes by Avi and Brookfield Residential weren’t far behind, both with 11 finalist nods.

Crafted Edge Homes and Renova Homes and Renovations lead with eight nods each, while Ultimate Renovations, Kay2 Contracting and Van Manna Homes follow closely on their heels with seven, four and three nominations respectively. Four of Renova Homes and Renovations’ eight nominations are for new build multi-family projects.

Finalists in the land development category for City of Calgary include Anthem Properties Group for Glacier Ridge, Brookfield Residential for both its Rockland Park and Seton projects, Hopewell Residential for Mahogany and Section23 Developments for Rangeview, Calgary’s first garden-to-table community.

Communities outside of Calgary contending for the best in land development awards include D’Arcy in Okotoks by Anthem Properties Group, and three Airdrie communities: Bayside by Genesis Land Development Corp., Lanark Landing by Melcor Development Co. and Vesta Properties Group’s South Point Phase 4, which is also in the running for best multi-family community design.
