A high-end four-bedroom home in south Calgary marks the seventh straight prize built by Trico Homes for STARS Lottery Alberta.

The Riverside is a 3,286-square-foot model featuring a mid-century modern-transitional design built in the master-planned community of Wolf Willow. Valued at $1,179,000, this fully furnished home is located at 137 Wolf Hollow Villas S.E.

“The overall vision for the house was modern vintage with nature inspired elements,” said Alex Scott, Trico’s show home designer.

“Of all the features in this house, I really love the Emtek French antique gold door hardware. This rich colour theme is consistently integrated into the overall design, appearing not only in the light fixtures but also the cabinet hardware and various accessories. Additionally, the distinctive slat details enhance the esthetic, found on the kitchen island cladding, fireplace detail and the partition in the upstairs study.”

The home is positioned on a substantial walk-out backing on to scenic Fish Creek Provincial Park.

“It is a great honour for us to contribute to STARS and their vital, life-saving efforts benefiting Albertans on a daily basis,” said Michael Brown, president and chief executive officer of Trico Residential. “Our enduring partnership with STARS underscores our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

This year’s lottery also features a home in Edmonton by Concept Homes and a home in Lethbridge by Van Arbor Homes.

For any person who enjoys hosting get-togethers, the Riverside sets up as a sure-fire delight. Every gathering area is spacious, bright and teeming with visual interest.

This includes in the great room a rectangle-shaped fireplace with a standout slatting element and three lit art niches.

Directly across from this space is a kitchen that domestic chefs will be excited to spend time in.

There’s an abundance of storage space and plenty of room on its generously proportioned island to spread out ingredients when preparing a meal. The island has a sink, seating for three people and — carried over from the fireplace — slatting on one side.

This design concept is also used at scale on the second level, separating a desk area and two secondary bedrooms from the stairs.

In the kitchen, a full-height backsplash, hoodfan and other appliance selections are all upscale.

The kitchen’s location in relation to the great room makes it easy for people in both spaces to maintain eye contact and stay engaged in conversation.

Next to the great room is a well-sized home office with glass walls on three sides. While this creates a needed boundary, it eliminates any concerns of an under-lit work space, bringing in sunshine from multiple angles. This space is staged with a desk, chairs and cabinets.

As noted, the home’s location makes it easy to venture out on long outings in the fresh air. That may even involve a dog. To answer those days when one’s four-legged friend is poised to track mud and grime through the home, there is a tiled dog wash in the mudroom.

On the second level, the master bedroom is on one end, and two secondary bedrooms are on the other. Few things satisfy on a frosty evening like the warm glow of a fireplace. In the master, a rectangle-shaped fireplace is integrated into the wall facing the foot of the bed.

Closed off by an elegant barn door, the master ensuite produces an upscale escape. A large and luxurious full-height tile shower enclosed in glass is the star.

It also boasts a chic free-standing tub beneath a window and a vanity with two sinks. There is plenty of space between the sinks, creating welcome elbow room when two people are getting ready at the same time.

The ensuite attaches to a grand walk-in closet, large enough to function as a dressing room.

There is a bonus room just off the master, but well-distanced from the children’s bedrooms. This allows the parents to stay up later and stream their favourite show without the volume on the TV creating a disturbance.

A glass railing and windows on multiple walls help disperse natural light in the bonus room area.

In the developed basement, homeowners will be able to keep fit in the exercise studio. There is also a fourth bedroom, rec area with walk-up bar, and separate tasting room.
